What you get
Everything runs on your own computer. Words that might be new are explained in the app when you hover or tap them.
Six short lessons on what moves an option's price, each with a slider to try and a quick check question. Includes the Greeks: small numbers that say how a price reacts to the index, to time passing and to fear in the market.
An index chart and a plain-English read of the market: the trend, India VIX (the market's "fear gauge") and the expected move, which is how far traders are pricing the index to travel.
The list of every call (a bet the index rises) and put (a bet it falls) at each strike price, laid out like a broker's screen. Click any price to see its chart and what drives it.
Pick one of twelve ready-made strategies or build your own. A payoff chart shows what you make or lose at each index level, with your maximum profit, maximum loss and breakeven (the level where you neither win nor lose).
Go back to a real past market day and trade it as if it were today, step by step or minute by minute. Blind mode hides the date so you can't remember what happened next.
A pretend balance of ₹5,00,000 to trade with. Each trade asks for your reason and exit plan, pays realistic charges, and shows its profit or loss as prices move. No real money, ever.
Where the prices come from
Optionwise runs on your computer. There is no Optionwise server and nothing is shared. For live prices it uses your own broker's market-data API, under terms you've already agreed with that broker. It only reads prices and never places real orders.
Data from NSE's website (the National Stock Exchange) is switched off until you choose it, after a short notice about NSE's terms. When you connect a broker, NSE data is allowed as a backup so prices keep coming if your token expires; untick it in the Data menu for broker data only.
Download
One file, nothing else to install. Your paper account stays on your computer and updates arrive inside the app.
Windows may show a SmartScreen warning because the app is not code-signed. Click More info, then Run anyway. The full source is public so you can check what it does.
On macOS or Linux? Run it from source with Node.js 22.13 or newer.
Each release page lists a SHA-256 fingerprint of the file. Open PowerShell in the folder you saved it to and run:
Get-FileHash .\Optionwise.exe -Algorithm SHA256
The Hash it prints must match the Optionwise.exe line under "Checksums (SHA-256)" on the release page. If it doesn't, delete the file and download it again. More detail
Source-available
The code is public under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0: you can read it, run it, learn from it and change it for personal, study and other noncommercial use. Bug reports and broker test reports are welcome.
